Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 9 September 2026

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Paperly mobile application on iOS and Android (the “App”), provided by the independent developer of Paperly (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. About Paperly

Paperly helps teachers create school exam papers. You can choose class, subject, and chapters; fill questions by typing, pasting, scanning, using Ask AI, or picking from a shared library; attach figures; and export a question paper and teacher answer key as PDF or Word.

Paperly currently focuses on CBSE-style patterns. It is an independently developed tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an official product of CBSE, NCERT, any state board, or any school.

Paperly is provided as a free App. It does not currently require an account, does not offer in-app purchases or subscriptions, and does not display advertisements.

2. Eligibility

You must be able to form a binding agreement under the laws of your jurisdiction to use the App. The App is intended for teachers and other educators, not for children. If you use the App on behalf of a school or organisation, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms for that organisation.

3. License to use the App

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the App on devices you own or control, solely to create exam papers for your teaching or your school’s internal use.

You may not:

4. Accounts

The App does not currently require user accounts or sign-in. If accounts, cloud sync, or paid features are added later, additional terms may apply and will be presented to you.

5. Your content

You are responsible for everything you enter, scan, upload, generate, or export in the App — including school names, questions, answers, prompts, photos, and figures. Do not enter student personal data or other sensitive information.

You represent and warrant that you have all rights needed to submit that content, and that doing so does not infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights of any third party.

Papers you save on your device remain on that device until you delete them or uninstall the App, subject to your operating system. Copies we collect as described below are handled under these Terms and the Privacy Policy.

6. Collection of generated papers; license to us

We collect question papers generated through the App — including papers assembled from our library and papers you create, edit, and export — to train and improve Paperly and to build and maintain our question library.

By generating or exporting a paper, or otherwise submitting questions, answers, scans, or figures to the App, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable license to use, host, store, reproduce, modify, adapt, create derivative works from, publish, and distribute that content (and to sublicense these rights to service providers who help us operate Paperly) for:

This license does not transfer ownership of original content you created. It does let us keep library and training copies even if you later delete the paper on your device. Copyright owners can still request removal as described in section 10.

7. Question library — no warranty of source, correctness, or authenticity

The question library is compiled from various sources, including content teachers add through the App and other materials we ingest or edit. We do not warrant, and we are not liable for:

You must review every paper before you print it, share it, or give it to students. You are solely responsible for the papers you use in class, including academic fairness, syllabus coverage, and any errors.

8. Ask AI and Scan

Ask AI uses Google Gemini to draft a question from your prompt. Scan sends a cropped photo to Gemini to transcribe a printed question. AI output can be wrong, incomplete, biased, or invented. Transcription can misread handwriting or print. You must check every AI-drafted or scanned question and answer before using it.

Do not scan or upload content you do not have the right to use. Submitting a photo of a published paper, textbook, or other third-party work does not give you ownership of that work.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the App to:

10. Copyright complaints

If you believe content in the App or library infringes your copyright, contact shashwatdubey111@gmail.com with appropriate documents. Include your name, contact email, a description of the work, the specific content to remove, proof of ownership or authority, and a good-faith statement that the use is not authorised.

We may remove or restrict content, and we may disable access for users who repeatedly infringe, where we reasonably believe it is appropriate.

11. Third-party services

The App may rely on third-party services, including:

Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.

12. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the App, including collection of generated papers, sharing analytics with Microsoft Clarity, and use of Google Gemini. By using the App, you also acknowledge that Privacy Policy.

13. Intellectual property

The App, including its design, branding, text, graphics, and code, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer ownership of any intellectual property to you. “Paperly” and related marks are used to identify the App.

The shared question library, as a compilation and as we edit and arrange it, is part of the Paperly service. Individual questions may remain subject to third-party rights. See sections 7 and 10.

14. Disclaimer of warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of defects; that generated papers, library questions, AI output, or scanned transcriptions will be accurate, authentic, original, or syllabus-complete; or that exports will match every printer, Word version, or school format you expect.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers. In those jurisdictions, the above may not fully apply to you, and our warranties are limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

15. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, GOODWILL, ACADEMIC OUTCOME, EXAM ADMINISTRATION ISSUE, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE APP, INCLUDING RELIANCE ON ANY QUESTION, ANSWER KEY, OR GENERATED PAPER.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE APP OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US (IF ANY) TO USE THE APP.

These limitations apply even if a remedy fails of its essential purpose. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.

16. Indemnity

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the developer of Paperly from and against claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the App, your papers or uploaded content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights (including copyright claims related to content you submitted).

17. App Store terms

If you download the App from Apple’s App Store or Google Play, you also agree to any applicable store terms. For Apple-distributed apps, Apple is not responsible for maintenance or support of the App, and Apple has no warranty obligation except as required by its store terms. Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms with the right to enforce them against you regarding Apple-distributed copies of the App.

18. Changes to the App and Terms

We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue the App (or any feature) at any time, with or without notice, including for maintenance, legal, or product reasons. Library content, generation behaviour, and AI output may change.

We may also update these Terms. Continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the App and uninstall it.

19. Termination

Your license ends automatically if you breach these Terms. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. Licenses you granted us to collected papers and library content survive, as do sections that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnity, and governing law).

20. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence require otherwise. Courts located in India will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms, subject to any non-waivable rights you may have as a consumer.
